IS HOMEOPATHY ART OR SCIENCE

HOMEOPATHY IS A COMBO OF SCIENCE AND ART
Homoeopathic medicine is not a magic pill.
Each day every patient we cure, we are verifying the truthfulness of this. There is no magic to it. It takes lot of Science and quite a bit of Art too.
The Disease Diagnosis is Science but Medicine Diagnosis is Art i.e. The choice of correct medicine in most effective potency is an Art.
The Science of Homeopathy
Science is something that is governed by laws and principles. It can be experimented and result is obtained. Every time same result is obtained. Homoeopathy is governed by certain Laws and Principles which are described below:
Law of Similars.
This law was discovered by Dr. Hahnemann in 1790. Similia Similibus Curentur.  Let likes be treated by likes. Medicine can produce symptoms in healthy humans similar to those symptoms it can cure.
Principle of Vital Force.
Vital Force maintains Health and Balance. Derangement in VF leads to disease and sickness. It is like the defence mechanism or Immune system of modern medicine.

Doctrine of Drug Proving.
Medicine is proved on healthy human beings in a set method given by Dr. Hahnemann himself. The symptoms obtained in proving constitutes are vast wealth of Homoeopathic Materia Medica. These symptoms are verified every day at our clinics and are found so true.
Principle of Potentisation.
To avoid medicinal Aggravation this concept was introduced , in which medicine is diluted in a particular manner called potentisation - by which the medicinal power is increased. It produces medicinal power in inert substances like common salt and poisons are also available in are arsenal- without side effects. Though we have to use them in caution.
Principle of Totality of Symptoms.
Treat the patient as a whole not separate parts or organs. Treat all complaints together taking into account all the symptoms of the person.
Concept of Individulisation.
There are 2 types of symptoms. First is the Disease proper symptom or Common symptoms. These are the common symptoms of the disease and are clinically helpful in Diagnosis of Disease. Second type is the Characteristic Symptoms. These are the distinct and uncommon symptoms present in each particular case. They are peculiar to a particular person in disease, not common to every patient of same disease. These are our valuable symptoms which lead the homeopath to the most suitable medicine.
Herings Law of cure.
This law gives the direction of cure.
HERING'S LAW:
Cure from above downwards.
From within outwards.
From a more important organ to a less important one.
In the reverse order of their coming.

If cure follows this law of direction, then the cure is sure or else we are palliating or suppressing the disease.
 The Art of Homeopathy
Homoeopathy is an Art, not in the sense that it’s upto our mood how we use the medicines, but how we apply the Laws and Principles of Homoeopathy to a case. The  application of the Laws of Homoeopathy is an Art.
Case Taking is an Art.
Taking the case history is a very important task for the homeopath. A case well taken is half solved. To get the most important and striking symptoms of the case is an Art. A well trained and experienced
Homeopath can get to the similimum by taking the case history in correct manner.
Evaluation of symptoms is an art.
This means to understand which symptom are complete and are vital for taking into account for prescribing.
Selection of Similimum is an art.
Similimum is the most well indicated medicine prescribed in most appropriate potency and dosage for a particular case being analyzed by the Homeopath. Homeopath has to judge which medicine is most appropriate for the case, the dosage needed, repetition required for getting best results. Though there are rules or guidelines, but the decision lies on Homeopath to choose the potency and repetition of the dose etc.
